Mary Oliver, the Poet

Today we read to each other one of Mary Oliver's poems, "The Word", which is why we mentioned "to run along ". In it she writes about speaking of the soul and seven people rose from their chairs and left the room. Then she speaks of the body, the spirit, the mockingbird, the hollyhock, etc., and seven more people leave the room and are seen running down the road.

We loved the poem, and have lived the results of "an ocean less hungry, one that begins to sing". The poem, "The Word" is from her book, "What Do We Know".

We do know that we are unfolding a newness that speaks to that which stays and that which goes.

There is a thirst that drinks from something far deeper than an unsupportive culture.

On blogs you read from the bottom up, like a lotus rooted in the mud, it starts at the foundation.

Clarity Artists, Opening Statement

Somehow you found your way here, either because we asked  you to come, or the mystery found you and pointed you in our direction.

There's not that much time, so a few questions: why are you here, and what do you want?

As for us, we're here to share what we've been given to work with, whether the culture supports it or not. We can tell you, it's not that easy. You may just want to run along.

You must have an interest in; the arts, the great sacred mystery, or life as a living meditation.

Not that many other people show up, so count yourself as a cultural oddity. And congratulate yourself for managing such a task.

There are quite a few areas we work with, so there's lots to share. Thank you for finding your way here.
